Smooth Sailing Through Stormy Weather

During hurricane season, it’s important to be prepared for the possibility of encountering severe weather while at sea.

Although the ship's crew tracks hurricanes and adjusts routes to avoid being in their path, storms can be unpredictable and strong, making it essential to stay informed and ready to act.

Here are some recommendations to ensure a safe evacuation:

   Before an Emergency

When embarking on a ship, a safety briefing will be given to all passengers, providing information on how to act in case of an emergency.

Inside cabins, along corridors, stairwells and shared areas, you'll have safety signs displaying safety procedures, the ship's layout and muster stations, and indicating designated safety routes.

All safety routes will be equipped with Low Location Lighting systems that will guide you in case of an emergency and low visibility. Make sure to familiarize yourself with these guidelines as soon as you board the ship.

   During an emergency

If a cruise ship encounters a storm, an alarm will be sounded (7 short blasts followed by 1 long blast) on the Ship's Whistle and an announcement will be broadcast on the ship's Loudspeakers.

If you're in your cabin or nearby, you should quickly grab your lifejacket and any essentials (travelling documents and medications), dress warmly and proceed to your designated muster station. If you're not nearby, go directly to your muster station where a lifejacket will be provided.

When embarking on a ship, a safety briefing will be given to all passengers, providing information on how to act in case of an emergency.

DO NOT return to your cabin to collect any property.

DO NOT use lifts.

It is crucial to follow the established safety protocols and remain calm since panic can cause confusion and accidents. This will help you ensure your safety and the safety of others during an emergency.
