World Maritime Day 2024: Navigating the Future with Safety First!

 On September 26, 2024, the global maritime community will celebrate the World Maritime Day, under the theme "Navigating the Future: Safety First!”.This annual observance, organised by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), highlights the critical importance of maritime safety, security, and the marine environment.

This year’s theme, "Navigating the Future: Safety First!”, emphasizes the importance of regulatory developments anticipating technological advancements and the introduction of alternative fuels to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from ships. It also reflects on IMO’s commitment to improving maritime safety and security while protecting the marine environment. In fact, 2024 is also the year of the 50^th Anniversary of the adoption of the 1974 SOLAS Convention, IMO’s key treaty on maritime safety.
